We provide free, welcoming classes in Punjabi, Kirtan, Santhia, Gatka, and traditional Sikh arts — fostering a strong foundation in faith, culture, and community.
Yes! All classes at Dashmesh Gurmat Centre are completely free and open to the community. There are no registration fees.
We are located at 135 Martindale Blvd NE, Calgary, AB T3J 2X5. Classes are held in the Gallery, Gurmat Sangeet Room, and Ajaaib Ghar spaces.
We offer classes for children and youth. Age requirements vary by class — some are open to all ages, while others specify a minimum age (6+ or 9+). Check the class details to see age recommendations.

Kirtan classes meet Monday through Thursday from 6:00–9:00 PM, and Saturday from 2:30–5:00 PM in the Gurmat Sangeet Room. Drop-in attendance is welcome.
Kirtan classes are held in the Kirtan Room. To get there, turn left at the Degh area and head upstairs—the room will be on your right, just before the gallery doors.
Gatka classes are held outside, right in front of the Jora Ghar (shoe area).
Parents and students can log into the Student Portal at portal.dashmeshgurmatcentre.com to view grades, attendance, and progress.
Gatka is a traditional Sikh martial art that combines combat techniques with fluid movements. Our Gatka classes teach students physical discipline, coordination, and cultural heritage. Classes meet Saturdays at 7:00 PM for ages 9 and up.
Santhia is the art of reciting Gurbani with proper pronunciation, rhythm, and spiritual reverence. Our classes teach students to engage deeply with Sikh scripture through careful vocalization while learning the meanings of what they recite. Santhia classes are held every Friday from 5:00–6:00 PM in the Gallery. Students should have basic Punjabi reading skills before joining.
Dhadi Vaaran is traditional Sikh poetry and music performed with Dhadh and Sarangi instruments. Our classes teach students the art of singing traditional Sikh stories and poetry. Classes meet Wednesday & Thursday from 6:00–7:30 PM for ages 6 and up.
